"One Kingdom. One Faith. One God."
Christianity is the dominant and state-supported religion across most of the Kingdom of Steinau. Rooted in Roman Catholic tradition, it is structured, hierarchical, and deeply entwined with both noble and royal authority. Its faithful see themselves as the stewards of divine order, bringing unity and salvation to the realm through the will of God.
At its head stands Bishop Anselm, the current spiritual leader of the faith in Steinau. Once presiding from the church in Forskeld, he now resides in Köningshaven, the capital, from which he exerts both religious and political influence. Under his guidance, the Church has become a powerful institution. However, his actions have raised great criticism among clergy itself, some perceiving a deceitful instrumentalization of the Church for his political goals.
Christianity is welcomed and practiced openly throughout most of the kingdom, particularly in the south and central regions such as the Heartland, Lunden, Forskeld, and Zoutweide. In these areas, the Church’s word is law, and public religious life revolves around churches, monasteries, and holy feasts.
However the religion is not without controversy, its spread into the northern region of Gransmark was achieved through violence and force. Their population remains hostile to pagans still, and considers itself the a shield against the wild.
